Yesterday, the bride and groom were in tension before wedding, as the bride’s parents and uncles were super conservative Muslims and wanted the nikah ceremony to be traditional. Indeed, of the nearly 400 ceremonies 10% were traditional Nikahs, and equally 10% were secular, a few Hindu and Christian and the rest 80% were interfaith marriages.
The parents not only cherished the ceremony, but the concerned uncles and the parents were sitting next to me in dinner and appreciating the inclusive ceremony. In all the weddings we officiate, parents, families and friends are not spectators but participants. One uncle said, this was the best nikah he has witnessed and the mother of the bride was feeding me the food non-stop and packed the Zarda to take home, I ate late night and this morning.
This was the best Lahori Zarda, I’ve eaten and now I want to cook the same for my wife, I love this woman, she is so good to me and every day the desire to make her happy increases.
Thank you
